Aberystwyth Town Tour

The tour of Aberystwyth is a guided walk through the streets of this seaside town which provides a context for understanding both the town’s architecture and the town’s development as a port, a university town and seaside resort.

  • 1. Aberystwyth still retains evidence of the medieval castle and town walls, which date from 1277.

  • Trefechan Bridge, Aberywstywth was built in 1887 replacing an earlier bridge by John Nash which was destroyed by floods. (NPRN: 40386. DS2006_201_011)
  • University of Wales Aberystwyth, Old College from the west. Began life as a luxury hotel and was restored after a fire by Seddon and Coates Carter.   (NPRN: 23303. DI2006_0202)
