"Hidden Histories Feedback"

Charlie, age 5 sent us his fantastic drawing of Poncysyllte "Aqueduck"!

  • The Aqueduck, by Charlie age 5

Mr M Wynne Griffith has written to tell us:

"During World War 2 I was living...only a mile or so from the aqueduct...my father joined the Local Defence Volunteers...Their duty was to guard the aqueduct to prevent the enemy making use of it... the putlog holes on the south pier of the northernmost arch were opened and we always understood that demolition charges were to be placed there if the threat became very real. I do not know if any of the other arches had the same treatment because we never walked under them."
